Ukhrul, July 18 2021:
The Covid-19 Awareness and Enforcement Committee of 44/AC Ukhrul in collaboration with Tashar Katamnao Long (TKL) today organised a 'Free Vaccination cum Awareness Programme' at Tashar village, Ukhrul district.
The programme was attended by Christian Home, SDO, Ukhrul, doctors, nurses and para medical staff.
A press release issued by TKL said that ever since the emergence of COVID-19 in the State, fear and pressure have been mounting on mental health of the people which includes monetary problems, shortage of food items, loss of near and dear ones and loss of jobs among various others.
Widespread symptoms of anxiety, fear, despair, sadness, depression, sleep disorder, emptiness etc, are ultimately affecting the mental health of the people, it added.
TKL stated that the free vaccination cum awareness programme was organised to curb and mitigate all the hesitancy, misinformation and rumours over the Covid vaccine.
There has been a lot of hesitancy over the vaccine within the community due to misconception and anti-vaccine propaganda rolled out in the social media.
It is obvious that misinformation has taken a deep root in the society which dispenses fear and despondency.
Around 300 people from all ages of Tashar village participated in the programme and about 71 persons were vaccinated today.
TKL expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Covid-19 Awareness and Enforcement Committee of 44/AC Ukhrul, especially the MLA, Alfred Kanngam Arthur under whose chairmanship the Committee is making an all out effort to bring hope in the environment of despondency and fear.
Tashar Katamnao Long further thanked the medical team including doctors, nurses and para medical staff who gave precedence to their duty for humanity over their personal interest during these dark days of pandemic.
