Imphal, July 18 2021:
In view of the hardships faced by the vulnerable and financially weaker sections of the society especially tenants, students, daily wage earners, vendors etc amidst the prolong lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs Manipur (FATYCM) appealed the Government to ensure that the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) be availed by those who are in need.
In a press release, FATYCM said that PMGKAY is aimed at providing relief to the suffering people during the difficult times of COVID-19 pandemic through distribution of food grains.
The federation also lauded the Government for extending the scheme till November in the interest of general masses.
However it expressed concern that distribution of food grains under PMGKAY in Imphal city is not satisfactory as many are deprived of their due share till date and there is shortage of food grains among the underprivileged sections of the society.
Stating that the scheme is primarily for the poor people to help in the fight against COVID-19, FATYCM appealed to the State Government to initiate steps to ensure the availability of the benefits of PMGKAY to all those who are in need so that nobody goes hungry amid this grim situation of the pandemic.
