Kpi police, CTF enforce curfew; test, vaccination held

Kangpokpi, July 18 2021:
Curfew was strictly imposed in Kangpokpi district following the orders of DC Kangpokpi by the district police while mass vaccination programmes were also carried out at various places of the district despite being Sunday.
Kangpokpi town wore a deserted look as Kangpokpi police led by Inspector Henminthang Kipgen, Officer-in-Charge Kangpokpi Police Station in collaboration with COVID Task Force Kangpokpi led by its Chairman Haolet Khongsai strictly enforced the curfew.
All shops were closed while vehicular movement was almost nil as only exempted vehicles were seen moving along the road which was also strictly monitored by the police and CTF Kangpokpi.
The movement of people was also strictly prohibited by the police and CTF volunteers within the bazar area as well as in all localities of the town.
Meanwhile, house-to-house testing was conducted at Kangpokpi Ward No 9 where seven individuals including two children below 7 years were found positive for Covid-19 out of 93 individuals tested during the drive.
The house-to-house testing led by Dr Sanjeev and Dr Marilyn Songate under the supervision of Dr Paotinlal Haokip, MS District Hospital Kangpokpi was conducted in collaboration with COVID Task Force Kangpokpi and Kangpokpi police.
The medical team assisted by volunteers of CTF and district police personnel had a hard time convincing the people to get tested as some households fiercely opposed the test.
Some even rebuked the testing team but they were ultimately explained and convinced to get tested.
Some households were seen locking their gates to avoid testing.
CTF Kangpokpi took the lists of such households to report to the town committee for further necessary action.
In Kangpokpi town alone, 10 positive cases including one at District Hospital Kangpokpi, three in contact tracing at Kangpokpi Ward No 4 and seven in house-to-house testing at Kangpokpi Ward No 9 were detected on Sunday.
CTF volunteers sealed all the residences of the individuals found positive and declared containment zone apart from the official declaration of the area as containment zone by the authority concerned.
Mass vaccination was also held at Kholmun Veng Ward No 14 Kangpokpi on Sunday where Kangpokpi Town Committee Chairman Lunseh Kipgen and his family and Chairman of Ward No 14 Thangjangam Kholhou got vaccinated against Covid-19.Kangpokpi Ward No 14 became the first Ward among 15 in the town to conduct mass vaccination in the town.
Around 34 people from Kholmun and Dulen village were vaccinated during the vaccination drive at Kholmun village Kangpokpi Ward No 14 while 54 people were vaccinated at Mayangkhang Khunou.
With 17 new positive cases detected in the last 24 hours, the active cases in Kangpokpi stand at 159 as 16 COVID patients were cured and discharged while the total fatality cases remain at 47 .
