Imphal, July 18 2021:
Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs Manipur (FATYCM) on Sunday urged the state government to initiate steps to distribute food grains under PMGKAY to student tenants and daily wage earners putting up in Imphal city.
In a press release, FATYCM stated that amid the Covid-19 lockdown there are many tenants, especially students, daily wage earners, vendors, etc., who are facing serious problem as they are the most vulnerable section of the society.
The Forum said that it is happy that the government has announced distribution of free food grains under Pradhan Mantri Grip Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) till November 2021 for all citizens in the country which will definitely ease hardship faced by the general public during this difficult time.
It then said that distribution of food grains under PMGKAY in the state's capital city should reach every nook and corner of the state as many tenants, students, daily wage earners and vendors have been deprived of their shares to date.
Stating that this package is primarily meant for the poor people during the pandemic, FATYCM appealed to the state government to initiate steps to make the scheme available to all at the earliest so that nobody goes hungry in the state.
It added that there is fear that financially weak families are running out of food.
