Imphal, January 15 2020: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the primary objective of the present Government is to bridge the gap between the people and Government and to deliver good governance.

He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the joint Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, today.

The Chief Minister maintained that with the support of the people, the Government has been able to maintain a peaceful and cohesive environment.

He continued that confidence between the hills and valley has also been restored.

Stating that the motive of organising Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day is to address the problems facing the people and extend maximum support to the needy, he said that the turnout on Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day is decreasing every month as people's grievances have been timely addressed by the Government machineries.

He promised that he would continue to hold Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day.

Acknowledging the Manipur State Co-Operative Bank (MSCB) for extending help to the people, the Chief Minister said that MSCB received around 1,800 applications for soft loans from various individuals, Self Help Groups (SHGs) etc.

Of the total, around 1,181 applications were shortlisted and around Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned to 400 individuals and SHGs.

Another Rs 6 crore will be disbursed soon, he added appreciating the banks including State Bank of India (SBI), United Bank of India (UBI) and others for extending their support to uplift the living standard of people of the State.

Commenting on the alleged discrepancies in the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011 data, the Chief Minister informed that the State Government is considering to form a committee to look into the exclusion of the genuinely deserving households in the SECC data so that they can be included and provided the benefits under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) .

Replying to the media persons about the construction of a new Manipur Bhawan at Dwarka, New Delhi, he said that the existing two Bhawans located at New Delhi will be dismantled soon for upgradation.

Before dismantling the existing Bhawans, the Government will construct another Manipur Bhawan at Dwarka and 2 (two) acres of land have been procured for the purpose.

A sum of Rs 150 crore will be required for the entire project, he added.

The proposed Manipur Bhawan at Dwarka will house a total of 20 rooms equipped with medical ventilators so as to facilitate those people who are going for medical treatment to Delhi.

Similar Manipur Bhawans are in the pipeline to be constructed at Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru soon, he said.

Highlighting the benefits of the Go to Village Mission in the past, the Chief Minister said that the Government will continue with the mission after considering the wishes of the people.

Regarding the ongoing stir by the teachers of SSA and RMSA, he informed that the Government is genuinely considering their demands and will invite their representatives for talks to resolve the issue.

In today's joint Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day, the Chief Minister personally heard about 350 complaints and met around 1,000 people from different parts of the State from 9 am to 1.30 pm .
