Nambol Mahila Cong spruces up for polls

With a view to the forthcoming Manipur State Assembly election, a meeting of Nambol Block Mahila Congress Committee was held today at the office of the Nambol Block Congress Committee.
The meeting which was attended by a large number of women Congress workers and supporters was held at the initiative of social worker Nameirakpam (O) Usha.
Speaking at the meeting, MPCC Mahila Congress president L Tilotama claimed that the incumbent Government led by Chief Minister O Ibobi would retain power after the forthcoming election.
BJP which could not assume power in Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) will never be able to form the State Government.
Congress leaders are far-sighted and 33 per cent reservation for women in elected bodies was an outcome of their far-sightedness.
As a result of the 33 per cent reservation, many have been elected to different bodies, Tilotama said.
MPCC general secretary Punamdani Wangkhem said that women have been shouldering immense responsibilities both at domestic level and community level.
Congress party has set its focus on development of women for overall development of the country, Punamdani said.
Bishnupur District Congress Committee president Salam Budhachandra, MPCC secretary M Sobashchandra and social worker Usha too spoke at the meeting.
They remarked that Nambol AC MLA N Loken is one of the MPCC leaders who is quite capable of serving the public.
MLA N Loken, Nambol Municipal Council Councillor Somorendro, Leimapokpam GP Pradhan A Ranjana and Leimapokpam Zilla Parishad Member L Tunanbi were also present at the meeting.
