Dr M Homeshwor while speaking at the function said that climate of Manipur is no more pleasant now.
Saying that climate change and global warming give huge impact on rare flora and fauna species, Homeshwor said that the current deteriorating conditions of Imphal, Nambul and Iril rivers are due to people's negligence and rampant felling of trees.
It is now high time to think over on preventive measures to check further deterioration of environment, he pointed out.
Regarding Loktak Lake, he said that though lake is the source of livelihood for thousands of people, one day, it may become a water body wherein no life can survive if it is not protected from being polluted in time.
