On the second day of the three-day long silver jubilee celebration of Archdiocese of Imphal, thousands of Christians took out a Eucharistic procession carrying the consecrated �Host�, considered to be the body of Jesus Christ placed in a Monstrance mounted on a float from Don Bosco ground, Chingmeirong to St Joseph Cathedral at Mantripukhri.
Vatican Ambassador to India Rev Pedro Lopez Quintana, the apostolic Nucio to India (representative of the Pope Benedict XVI, in India) led the procession from the Don Bosco ground at around 2.30 pm and arrived at the Cathedral at around 4.30 pm.
On arrival at the Cathedral, Rev Pedro performed the exhortation and benediction after which he addressed the priests and the sisters working under the Archdiocese.
Rev Pedro also released two books, entitled �Leading the Church in Northeast India: Archbishop Joseph Mittathany�s Reflection and �Catholic Devotional� at the occasion.
A documentary feature on the Archdiocese of Imphal was also screened at Christ Jyoti School ground in the evening as part of the silver jubilee celebration.
Earlier during the day, many Christians from different parts took part in the �Half-day recollection for all� session held at the school, ground where they purged themselves of the past misdeeds and resolved to lead a new life.
Bishop of Kohima Rev Jose Mukala also preached the religious message of peace and love to the people at the session.
Rev Pedro arrived at Imphal in yesterday afternoon yesterday to take part in the celebration of Archdiocese of Imphal.
He was received at the Airport by Archbishop Rev Joseph Mittathany and Co-adjutor Arch bishop of Imphal Rev Dominic Lumon among others.
Students and teachers of LFS, Nirmalabas School, Pastoral Training Centre and Vienne Home accorded a rousing welcome to the visiting dignitary along the route.
At Bishop House, Rev Pedro was welcomed warmly by Nepali and Meiteis in their traditional style.
