Imphal, March 25 2014:
After five candidates filed their nomination papers in Inner Manipur P/C yesterday, TMC's Sarangthem Manaobi alias Khoirenthaba and Oinam Jotin of Jai Maha Bharat Party filed their nomination papers today.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club after filing his nomination paper, Manaobi said that he is contesting the 16th Lok Sabha election driven by a conviction to save Manipur.
It has been 63 years since Manipur started taking part in India's Parliamentary elections.
But the MPs elected from Manipur during the past 63 years never worked for development of Manipur and protection of Manipuri identity rather they were working for devastation of Manipur.
Manipur is now vulnerable in every aspect and it is already an endangered State, Manaobi said.

"Compelled by the evolving situation in the State and unable to simply stand and watch what is happening before our eyes, I took voluntary retirement to contest the Lok Sabha election with a conviction to save dying Manipur ", he stated.
Sarangthem Manaobi held the post of Commandant in 1st MR, 2nd MR and 7th MR."With none of the MPs elected from the State ever voicing any issue of Manipur in Parliament, we cannot simply stand and watch Manipur festering", he asserted.
Alleging that MPs elected from Manipur have been working for destruction of Manipur, Manao cited implementation of family planning programmes in the State which according to him is under populated.
He further cited prolonged imposition of AFSPA and rampant violation of fundamental rights including the right to life.
In the absence of any mechanism to check the influx of illegal immigrants, people of the State have been facing adverse socio-economic impacts.
Even though Manipur was about to lose its territory as large as Bishnupur district on account of border fencing along Indo-Myanmar boundary, the State Government and the MPs elected from the State feigned ignorance.
After the erstwhile independent kingdom was merged into the Indian Union, it was reduced to the status of a Part-C State.
Then the compensation received by Manipur in lieu of Kabow Valley which was transferred to Myanmar (Burma) in 1834 was terminated by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1953.All these activities and events were aimed at dismantling Manipur, he said.
Again, by not incorporating Manipuri history and geography in the school and college syllabi of the State, secretive plans are being made for complete disappearance of Manipur.
Moreover, some elements have been continuously scheming to create distrust and conflicts on communal lines among the indigenous peoples with the ultimate objective of destroying Manipur.
Despite all these attempts and ploys to ruin Manipur, none of the MPs elected from the State ever spoke a word in Parliament, Manaobi decried.
TMC MLA Dr I Ibohalbi claimed that M Manaobi would emerge victorious.
He also appealed to the public to entrust Manaobi the responsibility of highlighting different issues of the State in Parliament.
If AFSPA can be repealed from seven Assembly segments, why the infamous Act cannot be repealed from the remaining 53 Assembly segments, Dr Ibohalbi questioned.
MLA Shyamkumar was also present at the press meet.
