Phase-wise training for polling personnel to start today

The polling personnel for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls for the Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies will undergo training in phases starting from tomorrow.
A total of 2, 662 polling stations will be opened for the election to the seat of Inner which is slated to be held on April 17 while another 1, 256 in respect of the Outer Constituency which would go to poll on April 9, official sources in the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, informed Tuesday.
The first phase of the training for the polling personnel for both the constituencies will begin from tomorrow.
The training will be conducted under direct supervisions of the concerned Deputy Commissioners.
Altogether 6, 280 polling personnel from the Outer constituency and another 7, 030 from the Inner constituency have been selected for the first phase of the polling on April 9 .
On top of these personnel whose training would start from tomorrow, a number of polling personnel have also been kept as standby.
Handling of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and communicating with the election control room on the polling day will be primary component of the training to be given to these personnel.
Meanwhile, so far nine out of the total 40 companies of Central Paramilitary Forces requisitioned for deployment in connection with the polling for the Outer constituency arrived in the State.
The remaining companies are also expected to reach here this month itself.
For the elections to the 16th Lok Sabha in the State, 79 companies of the Central Paramilitary Forces-40 from outside and 39 from within the State-will be deployed, apart from a number of State security forces from Manipur Police and Village Defence Force (VDF) .
