A one-day State level conference on 'Revitalisation of PACS and protection of agricultural land of Manipur' was held today at the Lamphelpat conference hall of Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM) .
The conference organised by the Oriental Women's Labour Cooperative Society Limited, Manipur under the sponsorship of Kolkata-based Indian Farmers' Fertilizer Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO) was inaugurated with IFFCO general manager Dr DP Patra and the host Society's chairperson Jeena Potsangbam as the chief guest and president respectively while IFFCO (NE) marketing manager Amit Kumar Mukherjee and ICM director Dr Kh Somorendro Singh graced the event as the guests of honour.
Pointing out that without protection of existing agriculture land it would be wishful thinking to expect the farmer community support the ever increasing population, Dr Patra also emphasised on the need for agriculture scientists to develop high yielding variety of food grains.
Along with protecting the plantation sites it is also essential for the farmers to adopt scientific method of agriculture for maximum yield from limited land resources, he said.
During the technical session, DCO Bishnupur Kh Tomba Singh deliberated on 'Revitalisation of PACS in Manipur' and Assistant Professor of LMS Law College Ch Momon Singh on 'Protection of Agricultural Land of Manipur' .
