Imphal, March 25 2014:
Apart from deploying paramilitary forces, polling process of some hypersensitive polling stations would be webcast live.
On the other hand, a meeting of the joint monitoring group was held today so as to ensure that cadres of UG groups under some sort of agreement of the Government of Manipur and Government of India stay away from the Parliamentary election.
The initiative to webcast the polling process has been taken up in accordance with an instruction from the ECI for some polling stations which are vulnerable to subversive activities, informed an official source.
Based on the records of previous elections and reports given by security forces, micro observers would be stationed at the polling stations which have been identified as risky.
Moreover, polling process at these polling stations would be webcast, photographed and given video coverage.
Moreover, the ECI has also issued another instruction to provide security personnel based on the sensitivity of polling stations.
All these measures are aimed at ensuring minute monitoring of the poll process.
With a view to ensure peaceful and disturbance free voting, the JMG of Government representatives and UG groups under tripartite agreement held a meeting at 1st MR Banquet Hall.
Leaders of the UG groups were told to keep their cadres away from the ensuing election.
The meeting presided by Principal Secretary (Home) Dr Suresh Babu was attended by leaders of UPF, KNO, URF and some other groups.
