Imphal, February 19:
Not satisfied with the ruling of the CJM, Imphal which ordered that a high level inquiry be held to probe the facts and circumstances that led to the seizure of Rs 9.2 lakhs from Babina Clinic and the arrest of five employees of private clinics, SDPO of Imphal West, N Gourakishore, who was previously the IO of the case, has filed a revision case before the Sessions Judge, Manipur East.
On February 16, the CJM had issued an order to institute a high level investigation that led to the seizure of the money and the arrest of the five persons.
The five persons were arrested on February 12 and Rs 9.2 lakhs was seized from them on the charge that the amount was meant to be paid to an underground outfit.
The amount was raised by five private clinics, charged the police then.
However on February 16, the police furnished a report stating that investigations had revealed that the amount was actually raised to buy one Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine.
Acting on the verdict of the CJM, the IO of the case was changed and the IG (LO) has been asked to conduct a thorough probe into the matter.
The IO is now the Addl SP of Imphal West, Radhesyam.
After hearing both sides, Sessions Judge, Manipur West Max Phazang acknowledged propriety and legality of the impugned order and admitted the revision case.
The Court issued notices to the respondents making it returnable on March 2.
