IOC, State Govt join hands to clear backlogs

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and the State Government have decided to put in concerted efforts to resolve all the backlogs regar-ding distribution of LPG refills to consumers within this month.
It is said that most of the gas agencies have backlog of three months.
IOC/AOD State office Executive Director Dipankar Ray, IOC/AOD State office ERSM, Chief Manager LPG, SLC Manipur and other LPG officials had a meeting with CAF&PD Minister M Oken-dro, Chief Secretary O Naba- kishore and Principal Secretary this evening.
A reliable source said that LPG supply position of the State was minutely discussed at the meeting.
Shipping in of LPG is increasing slowly as the num- ber of IOC vehicles which come along with CRPF escorts has been increased from 50 to 100 recently.
On the otherhand, Sekmai bottling plant has also started working overtime on alternate days leading to remarkable increase of supply of filled LPG cylinders to distributors.
During today's meeting, IOC and the State Government agreed to fill up the empty storage tanks of Sekmai gas bottling plant at the earliest to settle all the backlogs within this month and make LPG available to consumers.
IOC officials informed the State Government team that necessary steps have been taken up to introduce online booking from February 15 .
Once online booking is put into force in full swing, IOC would be able to detect backlogs and rectify the irregula- rities instantly.
Like many other distributors, Kasom Khullen Indane Gramin Vitrak has also discrepancies between computer system and manual records in the distribution of LPG.
System record of the distributor indicates that it has provided refilled cylinders to all the consumers who have booking date up to January 6.The gas agency which has 1301 active consumers has a record of average distribution of 88.10 refilled cylinders per day.
The distributor had provided 10 refilled cylinders each to three consumers, nine each to 14 consumers, eight each to 101 consumers and seven each to 131 consumers in the past one year.
Many consumers of the agency received one to four refilled cylinders during this period.
