Campaign at Loktak lake

Imphal, January 11 2016:
Members of Unique Wildlife Protection Com-
mittee (UWLPC) yesterday visited Loktak lake and started
campaign on wildlife protection.
During the campaign, members of UWLPC met the phumdi
dwellers and fishermen of Loktak Lake and explained the
importance of preserving wildlife and appealed for a pollution-
free environment.
Meanwhile a team of UWLPC, Sangai Protection Forum,
staff of Keibul Lamjao National Park and Hiyanglam PS OC
O Ibopishak rescued one lesser whistling duck.
The duck was handed over to them by Elangbam Sarat
Singh (46) after he bought it for Rs 200 from one person at
Wabagai bazar.
The bird was later handed over to Manipur
Zoological Garden authorities, according to a statement issued
by the secretary of UWLPC.
