State Govt seeks Rs 500 cr

For rehabilitation of earthquake victims and reconstruction of damaged properties/structures, Chief Minister O Ibobi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking central assistance of Rs 500 crore.
This was conveyed by Chief Secretary O Naba-kishore during a press meet today.
Taking serious note of the devastating earthquake which measured 6.8 on Richter's Scale, the State Government has initiated due procedures to release necessary funds to district administrations for immediate relief measures, he continued.
Senapati, Tamenglong and Imphal West would be given Rs 1.5 crore each and Rs 50 lakh each to the other districts.
An expert team led by IIT Jodhpur Director Prof CVR Murthy has inspected the damaged Ima Keithels as well as the Ministers' Block, Secretariat, and they have com- mented that the two buildings are still unsafe.
Samples of construction materials used in building the damaged Keithels have been sent to IIT Guwahati for testing.
But it is still not clear whether the damaged Keithels would be repaired or constructed anew, Nabakishore added.
