Malom depot set for April debut

Unloading of petroleum products at the rail-fed Malom depot would start from April this year after completion of the construction work in March.
This was announced by Chief Secretary O Naba-kishore after holding a joint meeting with IOC and CAF&PD officials in his office chamber today.
IOC's Executive Director Dipankar Ray was also pre-sent at the meeting during which IOC officials assured that construction of the Ma-lom depot would be comple- ted by March, unloading of petroleum products would start in April and by May the depot would be fully stocked, conveyed the Chief Secretary.
There would be no scarcity of petroleum products in the State once the Malom depot is commissioned for some period of days even if there is prolonged bandh or blockade.
The capacity of Malom depot is three times bigger than the Chingmeirong depot.
The meeting also discussed about the inability of Sekmai LPG Bottling Plant to stock more than five days' requirement of LPG although the plant's total capacity can meet 20 days' requirement.
The meeting decided to enhance bulk transportation of LPG to the bottling plant in addition to increasing working hours.

To a query, the Chief Secretary informed that he has written to the Union Home Secretary to lift PAP system from Manipur apart from urging to let Chinese nationals visit Manipur.
