Imphal, February 05 2015:
Border town Moreh remained cut-off from the rest of the State as the indefinite bandh along the Imphal-Moreh stretch of NH-102 continued.
The indefinite bandh along the highway has been called since midnight of Jan 29 to protest alleged harassment of travellers and atrocities committed on the public by 24 AR at Tengnoupal.
Information received from Tengnoupal today said that roadblock was staged at Tengnoupal as usual.
The bandh paralysed movement of vehicles to and fro Moreh.
Trade activities at Namphalong too came to a standstill due to the highway bandh.
Meanwhile, a reliable source said that talk between the Govt and the JAC Against Atrocities of Central Security Forces, Chandel district, which is spearheading the indefinite bandh, is likely to take place on Friday.
The JAC representatives had also held talk with the Govt yesterday.
During the talk yesterday, the CM had assured to fulfill the demands of the JAC while also informing the JAC delegates that the matter raised by them was deliberated at the Unified Command meeting.
Following the assurance, the JAC had after the meeting announced that the indefinite bandh had been suspended.
However, the JAC decided to carry on the bandh after a marathon meeting held at the residence of Tengnoupal village chief last last night.
The meeting went on till 11 .
As such, the bandh was carried on today to demand concrete assurance from the Govt that people from Tengnoupal and surrounding areas would not be harassed in future.
No untoward incident was reported due to the bandh.
OC of Tengnoupal PS kept round the clock vigil to prevent any unwarranted incident.
