600 PHSCs to be set up: Health Director

A one-day Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) camp was organized jointly by Health Directorate, Government of Manipur; Block Programme Management Unit (BPMU) Bishnupur Block and PHC Ningthoukhong at Upokpi Khunou, Bishnupur district on Thursday.
Interacting with newspersons, Dr O Ibomcha, Director of Health Directorate stated that though Upokpi Khunou is lagging behind in health facilities, its villagers are hard working and ambitious.
He assured that one doctor from Bishnupur will be sent to Upokpi Khunou once in every week to look after medical needs in the village apart from sending one ANM nurse to carry out immunization works on regular basis.
Announcing that a Primary Health Sub-Centre will be set up in the village soon to ensure basic medical needs to its people, the Health Director also assured that the villagers will also be availed with ultrasound facility once in every month.
There are 421 Primary Health Sub-Centre in the State.
The government is planning to set up more 600 centers in different parts, he informed.
He also announced that the Health Directorate will install water tanks to provide safe potable water to the village and appealed to the villagers to mix water with chlorine tablet and bleaching powder before using it for drinking.
Around 150 villagers including women and children attended the camp.
Free medicines were also provided to those diagnosed with various ailments during the camp.
