Bank employees beaten, robbed; TSA condemns

Kangpokpi, February 05 2015:
Two employees of State Bank of India and a retired Senior Assistant of the bank were allegedly beaten up and robbed yesterday evening along NH-2 .
At the same time, vehemently condemning the incident, the Thadou Students' Association (TSA) Sadar Hills has warned of taking up drastic steps if the authority concerned fails to nab the culprits within a week.
The incident reportedly happened at around 5.30 pm yesterday when the trio, who were travelling in an A-Star Car bearing Regd No ML05G-5867 heading towards Imphal were stopped by five unknown persons in front of MM Hotel at Pangaltabi under Sekmai police station.
Besides assaulting them, the windshield of the vehicle was also damaged by the miscreants.
The trio were identified as M Bikram Singh, Circle Auditor, State Bank of India, from Imphal; Lenkhodeh Sitlhou, Cash Officer (in-charge), SBI Sapormeina branch and Nehkhosei Sitlhou, a retired Sr Assistant of SBI, both from Motbung.
Speaking at his Motbung residence this evening, Nehkhosei Sitlhou recounted that they were heading towards Imphal to drop the Circle Auditor of Sapormeina SBI after completing an audit at SBI Sapormeina Branch at around 5 pm.
He said five unknown persons who were travelling in an i-10 car stopped them at Pangaltabi and demanded Rs 2000 .
Lienkhodeh came out of the car and told them they were employees of SBI and tried to reason with them.
However, without uttering any words they started beating him.
The miscreants also took away Rs 7000 from Nehkhosei and another thousand rupee from the Circle officer along with his Laptop and two mobile phones.
The miscreants spoke fluent Manipuri, said Nehkhosei adding that the five unknown persons used communally charged up words against them.
An FIR has been lodged at Sekmai police station regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Thadou Students' Association (TSA) Sadar Hills has condemned the incident in the strongest term today.
Lunmang Haokip, President, TSA Sadar Hills strongly condemning the incident said that the TSA wants the authority concerned to deal with such crime appropriately in order to prevent its recurrence.
It is unfortunate that such uncivilized incident has been frequently occurring along the NH which has become a threat to many innocent commuters, asserted Lunmang Haokip.
The TSA leader also wondered how such crime occurred in a place which is just a few kilometre away from a police station.
TSA Sadar Hills will not remain a mute spectator to such unwarranted incident, asserted Haokip while adding that such uncivilized incident deserve condemnation from all the citizens of the land.
