Imphal, March 02 2012:
The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) would not re-schedule the exam date for MIL/Alternative English paper of the ongoing HSSLC exam and the exam would be conducted on the date announced earlier, March 19 .
This decision was taken today by the COHSEM authority amidst speculation that the date for MIL/Alt English might be deferred due to error in distribution of question papers at Waikhom Mani Girls' College private centre in Thoubal district.
It may be mentioned that officials/invigilators had distributed the question papers of MIL/Alt English meant for HSSLC candidates to Class XI students at Waikhom Mani Girls' College centre on February 27 due to a gross oversight.
The MIL/Alt English paper for HSSLC exam is scheduled for March 19 .
It was speculated that the date for MIL paper might be changed due to the error.
Speaking to reporters today at the Council Office located at Babupara, Secretary of COHSEM Dr H Nabachandra said the exam date for MIL/Alt English papers of HSSLC would not be altered though the questions would be re-set.
Admitting that the error was unfortunate, Dr H Nabachandra also regretted that such mistake occurred.
He said that the questions which were already distributed to the Class XI students would be replaced.
The official said, a new question would be re-set for the HSSLC candidates while also adding that the date would remain unchanged.
He also appealed the parents and students not to have any apprehension due to the error.
The Class XI and HSSLC (Class XII) exams conducted by the COHSEM have been on since February 23 in 31 private centres and 22 council centres.
In all these private centres, the authority lies in the respective exam centre committee including appointment of OC.
The Council could not interfere in whatever steps and measures the committees take except in the Council centres.
Question papers were kept confidentially in the nearest police station and the same were taken out after the concerned OC of the PS put their signature.
Dr Nabachandra said, Waikhom mani Girls' College is a private centre and as such the exam committee is responsible for whatever that happens.
Stating that such incident was also a headache for COHSEM, he further urged all concerned OCs to take extra care so that such incident could be avoided in future.
