Imphal, March 02 2012:
In the latest political development in the state, the alliance of 11 Non- Congress Parties today unanimously appointed CPI State Secretary Dr M Nara as its spokesperson and President of MPP Dr Nimaichand Luwang and Working President of MSCP Devabrata as co-conveners.
On the other hand, Trinamool Congress leader, Mamata Banerjee has reportedly given her nod to the non-Congress alliance in the state and termed it as a major step towards the efforts for installation of a non-Congress government in the Manipur.
Leaders of the 11 Non-Congress political parties hold meeting today at the quarter of NPP President V Hangkhalian from 2 pm to 6 pm today.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed and arrived at a common understanding over staking the claim for formation of a new and non-Congress government in the state.
However, the meeting could not agree upon whether the new alliance should go under the old name of People's Democratic Front (PDF) or adopt a new name as Broad-Based Political Alliance (BBPA) .
Meanwhile, reacting to the remarks of MPCC President Gaikhangam, who contended that NPF is a party which is out to disintegrate Manipur, NPF leaders, who attended the meeting, questioned the motive and reason behind the remark and asserted that NPF would extend support from outside if any of the constituent parties of the alliance believe in the remark of Gaikhangam.
