Traffic regulation for Holi

In an attempt to check instances of road mishaps during the ensuing Holi festival, the Imphal West District Police has announced to organise a special drive to strictly implement certain safety norms and pull up any erring individuals.
During the drive, all the police personnel of the Imphal West district should give emphasis to check the irregularities with some provisions in the Motor Vehicles Acts, 1988, according to a statement issued by SP of Imphal West, Nishit Kumar Ujjwal.
Accordingly, driving without driving license, motor driving by minor, owners of vehicles allowing minor to drive their vehicles, driving without registration certificate of the vehicle, driving without insurance certificate, tripple riding on a two-wheeler, vehicles plying without displaying registration numbers, drunken driving, driving at excessive speed, overloading of car/gypsy/van/bus in violation of S 133 (B) MV Act, driving at speed which is dangerous to the public, using mobile phone while driving would amount to a fine ranging from Rs 300 upto Rs 5000 and imprisonment for two months to two years.
It further appealed the general public to extend cooperation to the police in order to avoid mishaps and lost of lives.
