Saikul police seizes 9.253 kg opium

Imphal, May 16 2022:
A team of Saikul police station led by its officer-in-charge Ng Suresh Anthony seized 9.253 kilograms of opium from the possession of one Kimkhonu Haokip alias Kimkhongah (68) w/o (L) Thangmang Haokip of Ekou Mulam village.
According to a police source, Saikul police received information around 5.12 pm on May 11 that a large consignment of suspected opium is kept in the house Kimkhonu Haokip of Ekou Mulam village in Kangpokpi district.
Subsequently, two teams of Saikul police station led by OC Suresh and comprising SI Lenginthang Misao, ASI Letminlen Lupheng, women police along with personnel of Ekou outpost searched Kimkhonu's house at about 6:15.The search led to the seizure of 9.253 kilograms of suspected opium from the possession of Kimkhonu around 7.15 pm.
However, Kimkhonu could not be placed under arrest as she lost consciousness due to suffering from a heart ailment.
As such she was taken to CHC, Saikul for treatment and kept under observation, the source detailed.
The accused woman was formally arrested on May 12 morning.
