Traditional welcome greets SBI MD at Lairouching

Amid heavy downpour, local villagers of Lairouching and staff of SBI, Lairouching branch greeted the visiting State Bank of India (SBI) managing director Ashwani Bhatia with a warm traditional welcome.
SBI, Lairouching branch manager Phiku Chalai briefed the visiting top SBI officer as they stepped into the branch office.
During the reception programme, Maram, Mao and Poumai cultural dances were showcased.
In his welcome note, outgoing SBI AGM Girindra Sharma stated that since long MD Ashwani Bhatia had a strong desire to visit the North East states including Manipur.
He also lauded Phiku Chalai for transforming the branch by the time Covid cases started to decline in the state.
Welcoming Ashwani Bhatia, representative from Lairouching village expressed gladness to the visiting officer and gifted him a traditional shawl.
Speaking on the occasion, SBI MD Ashwani Bhatia praised the branch manager as unique person and noted that whatever he has initiated at Lairouching, not many branch managers could do.
The visiting MD also expressed gratitude to the local villagers for the warm recep tion tendered in honour of him which he would remember for many years to come.
Ashwani further sought people's blessings for the branch so as to enable them to serve the people well and wished the new AGM Hepuni Bismarck all the best.
SBI MD also gifted a cheque of Rs 2.5 lakh to P K Women Society working for downtrodden women, school drop outs, underprivileged and orphanage of Lairouching village as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
A tree plantation was also carried out in the later part of the event in memory of the visiting SBI MD .
