Dr Ranjan: Potential of state nurses recognised globally

While taking pride in the potential of state nurses, Health & Family Welfare minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh said that their work are well known and recognised by people across the nation and even abroad.
He also confided that the state government has received requests from many foreign countries for sending Manipuri nurses and render their quality service while speaking as chief guest at the International Nurses Week Celebration, 2022 held at the Jubilee Hall of RIMS on Monday.
Minister Ranjan said that recognising the talents and sincere service of the state's nurses, Asian countries particularly Japan has requested to send state nurses to their country.
The government has also intimated the matter to the concerned authority and is planning to impart Japanese language to our nurses for better communication, he added.
Commending the service of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic, he maintained that without the service of the nurses it would not have been possible to control the pandemic.
The minister said that healthcare service at the primary level needs to be strengthened as it would eventually help improve other levels of healthcare system.
Appropriate policies to achieve the best health care service will be chalked out in consultation with the chief minister, he assured.
The minister also informed that in order to curb the expenditure oh treatment, one needs to be acquainted with preventive steps and undergo periodical tests and regular health check-up for keeping good health.
He also said that nursing week is observed to commemorate and honour the service rendered by Florence Nightingale for humanity.
Speaking on the occasion, Heath Services Manipur director Dr K Rajo informed that the process for setting up separate directorate for nursing is under process while service tenure for awardee nurses is extended.
New nursing colleges have also been opened in order to meet the requirement of nurses in the state, he added.
Floral tribute was also paid to Florence Nightingale as a part of the observance and prizes distributed to meritorious nursing students by the chief guest.
TNAI Manipur State Branch president N Tangbi Devi, RIMS director Prof A Santa Singh and Health Society director Dr Somorjit Ningombam attended the event as president and guests of honour respectively.
The observance was jointly organised by the Trained Nurses' Association of India and Student Nurses' Association of India, Manipur Branch.
