Buddha Jayanti celebrated

All Manipur Tamang Buddhist Sangh (AMTBS) celebrated Buddha Jayanti at Payul Chyoiling Gumba, 10 Miles, Irang Part-1 along with inauguration of the new Gumba (monastery) called Jyangchhubling Gumba at Gorkha Jhil, Irang Part-2, both under Kangpokpi district on Monday.
In a release, AMTBS stated that the auspicious occasion marks the birth anniversary, attainment of enlightenment and Maha Parinirvana of Lord Gautam Buddha.
The celebration is marked with the offering of prayers for peace, compassion, happiness, good health, unity and understanding among all the beings.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new monastery, Khadga Tamang thanked the villagers for their support, dedication and hard work in the completion of the monastery while AMTBS president Kumar Gole Tamang urged the gathering to follow the teachings of Lord Buddha, maintain the principles of peace, harmony and understanding among all the communities of the state.
The AMTBS president also encouraged the Tamang community to preserve language, culture and take interest in different co-curricular activities like sports, singing, dancing, etc.
Tamangs from all over Manipur, attended the event in their traditional attire, added the release.
