AR observes Martyrdom Day, plants saplings

Imphal, July 10 2021:
Troops of Assam Rifles planted 20,000 trees on the occasion of Martyrdom Day of (L) Rifleman Bhim Singh on the theme 'A Tree for the Future' .
A press release informed that Maram BN under Jwalamukhi Sector/IGAR (E) remembered all its martyred soldiers and paid tribute by conducting wreath laying ceremony and planting trees in its garrison, COBs and nearby villages on Saturday.
The martyrs of the Battalion namely (L) Rfn Bhim Singh Sain, (L) Subedar Kehar Singh, (L) Rfn Raju Singh and (L) Naib Subedar P S Rao laid down their lives for the motherland.
The battalion decided to plant 20,000 trees in the area and all nearby villages of each COBs were contacted and suggested to plant trees.
Ex-MLA K Raina along with 150 locals from Maram village voluntarily joined the tree plantation campaign.
Maram BN commandant along with all the families and civilians of the Maram village planted plants, shrubs and trees in the area.
The commandant highlighted about the importance of nature and emphasised that nature should not be taken for granted and must be respected for its values, the release added.
