National Lok Adalat conducted widely

As per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) organized the second National Lok Adalat for the year, 2021 today at various places across the state, both in virtual and physical mode.
A press release issued by MASLSA informed that National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and Imphal West districts was jointly held at ADR Building, Lamphel Court Complex.
National Lok Adalat was also held at Bishnupur, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel districts and in the High Court of Manipur.
In today's National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and Imphal West district organized by MASLSA, three benches were constituted.
All the three benches were conducted in online mode through video conferencing.
The first bench comprised of M Manojkumar Singh, Retd District & Sessions Judge as Chairperson and Ch Nanda Devi, Advocate as Member.
The Second Bench comprised of RK Memcha Devi, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East as Chairperson and B Supriya Devi, Advocate as Member.
And the third bench comprised of A Noutuneshwari Devi, Retd District & Sessions Judge as Chairperson and Ch Momon Singh, Advocate as Member.
The representatives of the banks/ insurance companies and the parties were present in the online Lok Adalat through video conferencing.
In such challenging times, all modes of virtual communication are adopted for effective communication between the parties.
In today's National Lok Adalat, a total of 29 pending cases (5 Criminal cases, 5 civil cases, 10 MACT cases, 9 family matters) were disposed off and 102 Pre-litigation matters (98 bank recovery cases and 4 petty matters) were also settled amicably with total settlement amount of Rs 1,46,79,803 (Rupees one crore forty six lakhs seventy nine thousand eight hundred and three) only.
It is to be noted that due to COVID-19 pandemic, the conventional physical Lok Adalats are now shifted to e-Lok Adalats in which it is conducted in virtual mode by using simple video conferencing applications.
In addition to the National Lok Adalats which will be held on September 11 and December 11, MASLSA will be holding regular State Lok Adalats from time to time.
Thus, it appealed to all the general public, Government departments, private institutions and other bodies to refer all their cases to Manipur State Legal Services Authority or District Legal Services Authorities so that their disputes and cases can be settled amicably at free of cost through Lok Adalats.
MASLSA also thanked the presiding officers, judicial officers, Id advocates, all the parties, officials of banks/ insurance companies, news and print media for making the programme a success.
