Assam Rifles celebrates 'Martyrdom Day of Late Rifleman Bhim Singh'

As a gesture of social responsibility towards nature, troops of Assam Rifle planted 20,000 trees on the occasion of Martyrdom Day of Late Rifleman Bhim Singh today.
Maram Battalion under the aegis of Jwalamukhi sector/IGAR (E) on this occasion remembered all its martyred soldiers and paid tribute by conducting a wreath laying ceremony and planting trees in its garrison and nearby villages.
The great martyrs of the Battalion namely Late Rfn Bhim Singh Sain, SM, Late Subedar Kehar Singh, SC, Late Rfn Raju Singh & Late Naib Subedar P S Rao were remembered on this occasion.
On this auspicious occasion, the battalion decided to plant 20,000 trees in the area under the theme "A tree for the future".
All the nearby villages of each COBs were contacted and suggested to plant trees.
Ex-MLA, K Raina along with 150 locals from Maram village voluntarily joined the campaign of tree plantation.
Commandant Maram Battalion along with all the families and civilians of the Maram village planted shrubs, plants and trees in the area.
The Commandant also highlighted the importance of nature and emphasised that nature should not be taken for granted and must be respected for its values.
He also mentioned that in the absence of human activities during COVID-19, nature is getting time to clean itself & reclaim its space.
Similar plantation activities were also carried out in COBs and nearby villages, highlighting the importance of nature and environment in our life.
Local villagers expressed their gratitude to the Assam Rifles for the dedication and relentless efforts.
