AR nabs KNF (S) cadre; contraband items recovered

Imphal, July 10 2021: Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (S) apprehended a cadre of the KNF (S), an armed outfit bound by the SoO pact signed with the government.

Informing that the cadre was netted in a Churachandpur district area on July 8, PRO IGAR (S) said in a release that based on specific inputs regarding extortion by KNF (S) insurgents, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation which led to the capture of the individual, who has been handed over to Churachandpur Police Station for further investigation.

On the other hand, Moreh Battalion of IGAR (S) recovered contraband items in Moreh on July 8 .

Troops of Assam Rifles observed movement of suspicious individuals on two wheelers during routine patrolling along the Indo-Myanmar border.

On seeing the troops, the suspected smugglers fled into Myanmar leaving behind several bags which on checking were found to contain imported goods including liquor, hand bags, shoes, toys and apparels.

The cost of the contraband recovered is assessed to be Rs 20.39 lakh, the PRO said in another release, that the recovered contraband items have been handed over to Customs for further necessary legal action.
