Release fund for destitute: Forum

Forum for CCIS-NGOs Guild Manipur has demanded release of fund for unfortunate, destitute and orphaned children within July 20 and drew attention of chief minister N Biren Singh, who is also holding charge of social welfare department, in this regard.
In a statement, the Forum said that implementing officers of ICPS schemes and NGOs running child care institutions are taking care of more than 1000 unfortunate, destitute and orphaned children below 18 years of age as per rule of JJ Act and orders of first-class magistrate bench.
Full and final instalment of the centrally sponsored scheme for the year 2020-2021 was released by the ministry on February 2, 2021 but the state government has released the fund for only six months and the remaining is yet to be released.
The ministry also released three months fund for the year 2021-22 but the state government has not yet released the said fund, the statement said and urged the chief minister to look into the matter seriously and release the pending fund so that suffering of staff amidst COVID-19 could be ameliorated at least to some extent.
