MCPCR warns social media users

Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has asked all social media users who have directly or indirectly disclosed the identity of arrested KK Singh's child to remove their posts.
Noting that various print and electronic media outlets, including social media, are indiscriminately disclosing the identity of the child of KK Singh, an MCPCR release cautioned that disclosure of the identity of a child directly infringes on the rights of a child, particularly the general principles under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 .
Further, disclosure of a child's identity in connection with a legal proceeding is punishable under Section 74 of the 2015 Act, it added.
It also asked all concerned to abstain from mentioning details of a child in relation to any legal proceedings/incidents which may lead to disclosure of his/ her identity to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience.
