AR reaches out to veterans, public

To further strengthen the association and bond of brotherhood, camaraderie with its veterans all across Tamenglong district, 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sect IGAR (E) has initiated various initiatives/ programmes to reach out to general public and veterans in particular from far flung areas.
In a release, the 44 AR stated that the telemedicine helpline numbers - 9862053455, 03877267227 in the district have been receiving various requests on daily basis.
On May 29, a call came from a veteran, who is away from his dependents and battling Covid, requesting essential commodities be sent across to his family at the earliest.
The Covid response team at the unit headquarters sprang into action and distributed medicine for the children at the doorstep of the veteran on the same day, it added.
The release continued that the response team is just a call away from needy veterans and it assures that they would be at their doorsteps to help them.
The WhatsApp group is also helping with important information about various beneficiaries' schemes including recruitment rallies, sport quota for recruitment in Assam Rifles, reservations in various educational institutes for their wards and ECHS (Ex-serviceman Contributory Health Scheme) .
For speedy redressal of Veer Narees, veterans and their family members, the unit has also established ex-serviceman cell at unit headquarters.
The release mentioned that a concurrent mobile Covid awareness programme has been initiated by the unit to help spread covid awareness in all corners of the district.
The unit covid vaccination centre with the help of civil administration has been made functional to vaccinate general public on every alternate day.
