Bishnupur, September 01 2021:
Local clubs, organisations and Meira Paibi activists of Oinam and Irengbam staged a protest in front of the gate of Royal Academy of Law (RAL), Oinam, denouncing the authority concerned for not electing a new Governing Body of the college for over a year now and not honouring the agreement made with the caretaker principal.
Speaking on the sidelines, RAL Development Committee Secretary O Hemanta Singh recounted that after the last principal of the college retired, a request was made to the authority concerned for electing a new Governing Body a month later.
However, no action has been taken up till date.
This has rendered the college to remain without an authority.
On August 20, another request was made to the authorities to appoint an RR-eligible principal and also elect a new Governing Body, following which the Director of Higher and Technical Education appointed a caretaker principal on August 25.The said caretaker principal met the local clubs, organisations and Meira Paibi members on August 26 wherein it was agreed to form the Governing Body as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, no action has been taken up on the matter till date, he lamented.
Hemanta iterated that the demands of the people are in accordance with the Manipur Education Code 1982 should be fulfilled at the earliest.
However, the caretaker principal is delaying the matter, which has affected the career of the students and further hurt the sentiments of the people.
"It is regrettable to see some people trying to take advantage of this situation", he said and urged for fulfilling the aforementioned demands at the earliest.
