A 15-member team of AMSU, as a part of the drive, took stock of the prices at stores along Dharmasala, Alu Gali, Masjid Road and Nagamapal road stretches today, he said.
The team, during the drive, detected many wholesale and retail stores selling items at prices differing to one another, he said while adding that such variation and unnecessary hike in price adding woes to the consumers should be stopped at the earliest.
To ensure transparency and ease to consumers, the vendors should also make their price list visible to the consumers, he said.
The volunteers also disposed of various rotten and expired items during the drive in front of the shops, he said while adding that AMSU will proceed with the drive and inspect various godowns in the State.
AMSU will take strong action against shops and stores which are found to be selling expired, contaminated and spoilt items, he said.
