As a part of two year long commemoration period of l50th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and in order to mark this occasion, a "Fit Health Worker Campaign", was launched in Manipur starting from 2nd October 2020 covering all the District hospitals, CHC, PHC, Health and wellness centre.
This period has been utilised for specific screening of all healthcare workers in the public Health care system including community health volunteers such as ASHAs in rural and urban areas for common NCDs such as Hypertension, Diabetes and three common cancers of oral cavity, breast and cervix.
All the health professionals of the public health care systern such as ANMs, Nurses, Lab Technicians, Medical officers and Specialists will be screened for common NCDs.

Anganwadi Workers and Helpers will also be screened.
The campaign is being organised under Ayyshman Bharat comprehensive Primary Health Care scheme and implemented by State HWC and State NCD Cell.
At a function held today at Luwangsangbam Health and Wellness Centre, Dr Y Premchandra Singh, State Nodal Officer NCD,who attended as chief guest stressed upon the needs of keeping the health staff fit and free from NCD to fight different diseases in the community.
He stressed upon healthy workplace and the need of health care worker to abstain from any ill habits and be a role model for the people.
He opined that the health workforce - the staff of the health centres need to maintain good health to work efficiently.
The program was presided by S Angou, pradhan of Luwangsangbam Gram Panchayat and attended by staff of State NCD Cell, staff of HWC Luwangsangbam.
Memi, CHO of the HWC gave a report on different NCD screening activity.
NCD screening of the staff were also done.
Such similar campaign will be done in all the health centres of the State.
Fit Health Care Workers for each health centre will also be identified.
Awards will also be distributed at district level.
