Three URF cadres held with arms

Three members of the United Revolutionary Front (Lalheiba group) were arrested along with arms and ammunition by a team of Imphal West District police today.
According to a police source, a team of Imphal West District police led by Inspector P Sanjoy, Officer In Charge Imphal West commando acting on a specific tip off about the presence and movement of some under ground militants in Koutruk area under Sekmai police station cordoned off Koutruk area from 3 am and conducted a search operation.
The search operation was carried out under the supervision of Th Vikramjit, Additional SP (Ops) Imphal West.
During the search operation, three members of URF (Lalheiba group) identified as Thounaojam Ingoucha @ Tayai (45) s/o Manglemjao of Koutruk Khunou, his elder brother Thounaojam Chaoba (46) of Koutruk Ching Leikai Lai Maning and Nunglepam Joy (31) s/o Kukra of Koutruk Khonou were arrested.

Further acting on the disclosure of the three arrested cadres, three AK 56 rifles, three magazines, 90 live rounds and one mobile phone with two SIM cards were recovered by the police team.
However some hard-core cadres of URF escaped the police net as they left the area last night.
According to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Department, a team of Imphal West police first arrested Thounaojam Ingocha alias Tayai from his residence at Koutruk Khunou.
On his disclosure three AK 56 rifles along with three magazines and 90 rounds of AK ammunition were seized from his court yard.
On further investigation, a sympathiser/harbourer of URF (Lalheiba) Thounaojam Chaoba (46) was arrested from his present residence at Koutruk Ching Leikai.
Chaoba is the elder brother of Ingocha, added the statement.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Nungleipam Joy (31) of Koutruk Khunou, said the PRO and added that Joy used to transport arms and ammunition of the outfit.
A case has been registered at Lamsang PS and investigation is on.
