Informing that a body called the "Joint Action Committee Against Unfit Pay" has been constituted by the Home Guard personnel to press home their demands, a representative of the Home Guard personnel today said that the agitation of the Home Guard personnel will intensify if the assurances given by the Chief Minister are not translated into concrete action within March 22.Talking to media-persons after attending a high level meeting with the Chief Minister and the Commanders of the Home Guard battalions this afternoon, a member of the newly formed JAC said that the Chief Minister during the meeting had assured to clear all necessary file works for payment of their salaries within Monday and added that major portion of the offical process have been completed.
He however added that no file works could be done today on account of being a Sunday.
According to reports received by the press, Chief Minister O Ibobi also instructed the Home Guard's officials to stop Battalion's commanders to recruit fresh Home Guard personnel through the back door and added that all recruitment should be conducted jointly by the DGP and the COs concerned.
He also advised the officials not to deduct anything from the salaries of the personnel without furnishing proper reasons.
