RIMSAM, 2005, the annual meet of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) which began from March 15 concluded last night with a colourful cultural programme presented by the students of the Institute at the Jubilee hall.
Later Prof Thokchom Biren, Dean declared the RIMSAM, 2005 closed.
In order to make the annual celebration a success, all the classes had been cancelled during the period.
Sushurta House bagged the overall championship while Nagarjuna House got the runner up trophy.
Besides, Miss RIMS and Mr RIMS were selected and prizes were distributed to the winning teams and individuals for various competition.
The annual meet started off with an impressive march past competition among the players and members of the four Houses.
Director of the Medical Institute Prof L Fimate, Medical Superintendent Prof S Arunchandra and Head of Forensic Department Prof A Momochand donated Rs 1000, Rs 700 and Rs 500 respectively for the first three prize winning Houses.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Prof Fimate announced that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India had given administrative approval for development and implementation of advanced hospital management including picture archival communication system for RIMS.
This is a great milestone for RIMS which is fast emerging as one of the best institutes in the country, he said, adding that the day is not far off when RIMS would become a health tourist centre for south and southeast Asian countries.
He also said that there is a plan to organise the RIMS� annual meet at the regional and all India level to enable other medicos to participate.
Workshop concludes: The valedictory function of the workshop on ��Techniques of analysis of Demographic and health statistics and application of computer softwares�� organised by the Department of Statistics, Manipur University and Population Studies Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata was held today at the seminar hall of the Statistics Department, Manipur University (MU).
