Imphal, January 18:
Expressing grave concern at the non-availability of class VI-VIII text books for the 2005 academic session the democratic Students Alliance of Manipur has set January 25 as deadline to publish the text books and ensure its accessibility to students at all corners of Manipur.
In case positive measures are not initiated to publish/print the text books and make them available at book stores intense agitation will be launched against the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and the State Government, said a Desam release.
Blaming the Board for negligent approach in preparing the common syllabus text books prescribed for the ensuing session, Desam said attempts to enforce old text books with the new ones will not be tolerated.
Emphasising on uniform text books for both the valley and hill areas the student body further cautioned the Board and the State authorities against pursuing divisive methods by prescribing separate syllabus for hill and valley schools.
