Monetary contributions for assistance to the tsunami victims continue to flood in from various quarters.
Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal Prof L Fimate handed over a bank draft of Rs 3,14,956 to Governor SS Sidhu this afternoon as relief aid for the victims of tsunami tidal wave.
The amount was conducted by the employees and students of the Institute.
The members of Feather Friends, Manipur also presented a draft of Rs 10,000 to the Governor today contributing the amount to Prime Minister�s National Relief Fund for the cause.
Parmeswor Bhagwan Shri Krishna Welfare Dharmath Trust, Singjamei Thongam Leikai had also donated Rs 10,500 for the cause through the Governor on Jan 11.In recognition of this gesture, the Governor appreciated the spirit and generosity of these organisations and their members.
On the other hand, the NSS Unit I and II of Manipur University, Canchipur have collected a sum of Rs 2,672 from the students, researchers and staff members of the University yesterday and handed over the amount to State Liaison Officer, NSS Cell for onward transmission to the Programme Advisor, NSS, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India through NSS Regional Centre, Guwahati.
The two NSS Programme Officers expressed their gratitude to all those who have extended monetary help towards the cause.
Similarly, the NSS Programme officer of TS Paul Manipur Women�s College has appreciated the principal, all the staff and students of the college who have collectively donated a sum of Rs 2605 towards the Prime Ministers� National Relief Fund for the victims of tsunami disaster.
The amount has been handed over to State Liaison Officer, NSS Cell.
Meanwhile, Manipur Geeta Mandal donated an amount of Rs 12,379,00 to the Relief Fund.
The bank draft of the amount issued from SBI Secretariat Branch Imphal bearing the number 1209205973 had been send to the secretary of Prime Minister�s National Relief Fund, South Block, New Delhi-110001 today.
Members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly donated their December month salaries to the Prime Minister�s Relief Fund in aid of victims, informed a statement issued by the Deputy Secretary (Admn) of the Assembly.
