Disturbed by the recent spurt in Moreh town a peace rally was taken out through the border trade centre while similar campaigns would be organised at Ukhrul district from January till March.
The Moreh rally was participated by thousands of citizens belonging to different communities today calling for peace and tranquillity in the area, reports our correspondent I Ibobi.
The rally which was organised by the All Communities Welfare Forum, Moreh began from the Galngam Lentol ground at around 10.30 am and concluded at Moreh AMSU ground at about 12.30pm after snaking through all important areas of Moreh.
Placards inscribed "We are one", "We want peace", "let peace prevail in Moreh" etc were carried by the rallyists.
A public meeting was also held at AMSU ground where public advocating peace in Moreh town also appealed to all underground organisations to refrain from creating any sort of disturbances in Moreh in future.
Meanwhile, a high level meeting attended by Chief Minister O Ibobi, Tengnoupal AC MLA BD Korungthang, MLA N Biren, MLA Bijoy Koijam and MLA Ranjit was held at the Chief Minister's Bungalow to deliberate on the prevailing situation in Moreh.
Members present at the meeting resolved to lift curfew completely from tomorrow and allow business transactions as usual.
Passengers� bus service will also resume from tomorrow on the Imphal-Moreh road.
On the other hand, putting objectives of cementing bond of brotherhood and peace at the top a campaign on �elimination of social evils and conflicts� in Manipur will be organised at various villages of Ukhrul district areas from January last week till March, informed Peace Sponsoring Society, Langol .
Based on themes of 'fin-ding cause of social evils and conflicts, to root out hatred and suspicious attitude and strive for an era of prosperity and community development in the State' the all community campaigns would begin with a three day programme at Sinakeithel TK from January 29.Other villages to be covered by the campaign includes Molnom, Pasong, Thawai and Litan Sareikong bazar.
Attributing conflicts and indifferent attitude amongst the community to sinister designs of some public leaders and politicians a statement issued by the Society observed that time has come for one and all to stay vigil and keep evil force at bay.
