Unidentified gunmen set ablaze two trucks loaded with brand new two and three wheelers in between Ningthoubung and Hengbung villages under Senapati police station at around 11.30 am today.
One of the trucks along with the loads were burnt to cinders, said press source who detailed the truck registration numbers as NL-01/A 7400 and MH05A/5016.The source informed that the first truck driven by one Bimol was carrying five auto-rickshaws and 12 Eliminator motor cycles while MH05A/5016 with one Sanjiv Rai at the wheels was loaded with Pulsar motor cycles.
The two and three wheeled vehicles transported from Aurangabad of Maharashtra some ten days back were supposed to be deposited at Manipur Motors, Mantripukhri.
As per version of Sanjiv Rai who reported the incident at Kangpokpi police station, a lady with two male accomplices stopped the trucks at near the Ecological Park located in between Ningthoupham and Hengbung.
They reportedly arrived in a car.
Soon after the trucks halted two of the men whisked out small arms, poured petrol and set the trucks on fire.
Compared to irreparable damage to the truck bearing registration number NL01/A 7400 only the front seat of the second truck were burnt before the assaulters made a hurried retreat from the spot.
