Eid greetings extended, edibles distributed

Extending Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the people, particularly the Meitei-Pangal community, All Manipur Muslim Development Committee (AMMDC) has urged the Islamic believers in the state to celebrate the festival which falls on July 21 with strict adherence to Covid-19 SOP guidelines.
In a release, AMMDC president Pusham Sayed Ahamad pointed out that Manipur is a state where multiple communities reside and follow different religions.
These communities celebrate their annual festivals according to their beliefs.
Believers of Islam have been celebrating Eid-ul-fitr and Eid-ul-Adha annually.
Offering prayers at Masjid and Idgah and feasting with family and friends mark the festival of Eid-ul-Adha, he added.
With the coming of Eid-ul-Adha, he highlighted the need for peaceful co-existence among different communities and respecting every religion and their festivals.
He prayed and wished for wiping out Covid-19 pandemic from the face of the earth.
Villages Community Progressive Committee (VCPC) president SM Ibomcha conveyed warm greetings to the people of Manipur and wished for strengthening the bonds among different communities in the state with the coming of joyous festival of Eid-ul-Adha.
National Students' Union of India (NSUI), Manipur president Md Kabir Ahamad and Apna Dal (S) general secretary (Administration), social activist MI Khan also extended their greetings to the people on the arrival of Eid-ul-Adha.
In a release, Kabir Ahamad wished good health and prosperity to people of the state along with appealing to them to celebrate the festival while adhering to Covid-19 protocols.
MI Khan also wished that with the coming of Eid-ul-Adha the pandemic disappear from the state.
Speaking while distributing edible items in connection with the festival to 1300 households in Keirao assembly constituency on Sunday, MI Khan stated that Eid-ul-Adha is one of the holiest festivals of the Muslims marked by praying, charity and sacrifice.
He wished the festival to usher in peace, prosperity, development and social harmony in the state.
Meanwhile, Mayang Imphal Block Congress Committee distributed food items to Muslim families of the assembly constituency in relation to Eid-ul-Zuha/Bakrid Eid.
The items were provided to the Muslim families under the supervision of former minister Dr Kh Ratan Kumar prior to the 10-days statewide curfew imposed by the state government came into effect.
