Unclaimed body deposited at RIMS for identification

Senapati, September 15 2022:
A lifeless body of a man, suspected to be a non-local, was found near the M/Ningthoupham village Baptist Church around 7 am on Thursday.
As per information received from M/Ningthoupham villagers, the deceased, who was working as mason/manual labour, resided in the village on rent.
Villagers knew him as one, Shankar but no one knows his details.
According to local sources, the deceased was a habitual drinker and returned home on September 14 fully inebriated.
When he was about to go out around 6 pm on Wednesday with a torch light, the house owner advised him not to go out as it was already dark.
However, the man responded that he would only go out for evening walk.
On September 15 morning when the villagers were about to receive NFSA rice from the village community hall, some villagers found the body below the NH-2 and reported the matter to Senapati police.
The police immediately rushed to the spot and found the body with some bruises, probably from falling down from NH-2.After due legal processes, the police picked up the dead body and kept it at JNIMS morgue for identification.
According to a source from Senapati police, if the body is not claimed within September 20, then it will be disposed of as per law.
An unnatural death case has been registered for further investigation.
