Students hold rally against shortage of teachers

Jiribam, September 15 2022:
Students of Borobekra Higher Secondary School in Borobekra Sub-division of Jiribam district took out a rally yesterday demanding the authorities concerned to address the shortage of teachers in the school.
The students called for immediate redressal of their grievances adding that the school will be shut down from October 1 otherwise.
It may be noted that a memorandum to this effect was also submitted to the Chief Minister, Education Minister, local MLA, Director and Jiribam DC through M Debananda Singh, MCS, SDC Borobekra Sub-division.
Following the handing over of the memorandum, P Sanju Singh, general secretary, Borobekra Higher Secondary School Students Union (BHSSSU) highlighted the issues persisting in the school.
He stated that the school is currently suffering from a shortage of teachers.
"The school does not have a regular principal or vice-principal or chemistry teacher", said Sanju while calling for prompt action in this regard.
He also appealed to the authorities concerned to add the subjects of computer science and education in their school curriculum from next year.
Placards with messages such as, "Save the students of Borobekra Hr Secondary School", "We don't want strikes, we want education", "How can students learn without teachers?", etc were used at the rally.
