Manipur State Commission for Women observes 16th foundation day

The 16th foundation day celebration of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) was held at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong today.
A one day consultation programme on 'Socio economy and political status of women in Manipur' was conducted in connection with the foundation day celebration.
Social Welfare Minister, H Dingo Singh; MSCW Chairperson, Salam Ulka Devi; Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribe Chairperson, Thuigai Mathiu Rongmei and MSCW members Lourembam Dayabati Devi, T.Chuongsin Koireng and Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang graced the event as the presidium members.
While speaking at the occasion, H Dingo lauded the women of the State who have been making remarkable contributions in every aspect for the well-being of the State.

He further stated that the women of the State also play an important role for the enhancement of socio-economy.
The Manipur State Commission for Women has been encouraging the women through various awareness programmes, he added.
Addressing the gathering, Salam Ulka Devi presented a brief note on the complaints received by the Commission and its status.
She also maintained that among the cases received, domestic violence related cases were the highest in number.
During the programme, MSCW journal 'Role of Women Volume - 1 was released.
Former women MLAs, Ministers of the State and former Chairpersons of MSCW were also honoured with simple gifts on the occasion.
