5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah observed

The AYUSH Wing, District Hospital Senapati under National AYUSH Mission, State AYUSH Society observed the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah at District Hospital Senapati today.
5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah was observed as part of the campaign to promote wellness through Yoga under the theme, "Yoga at home, Yoga with family" and awareness of Ayush practices/products to reduce stunting, anaemia, low birth weight and boost immunity.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr M Sokha, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Senapati stated that the Rashtriya Poshan Maah was observed with the aim to reduce the cases of stunted babies and malnutrition among mothers after birth.

She advised the participants to avoid certain foods to stay healthy and consider fresh vegetables & fruits apart from meat.
She also stressed on the importance of drinking milk for lactating mothers. Dr Sumpi Percy, Sr Specialist, District Hospital Senapati mentioned that Poshan Maah is the Prime Minister's overarching scheme for holistic nourishment.
"Food is divided into 5 kinds as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals.
These nutrients are a must for a healthy body", said Dr Sumpi while urging all to change their food habits and consume different kinds of nutrition.
Dr Kiran Angom, Pediatrician, District Hospital Senapati spoke on the topic "Nutrition in children below 6 years and lactating mothers" with demonstration of correct posture for breastfeeding.
Dr Athia Sylvia Saprunamei, MO in-charge AYUSH, District Hospital Senapati spoke on "AYUSH and nutrition" .
Later, YOGA demonstrations for pregnant and lactating mothers were also conducted.
