Imphal, June 06 2021:
All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has said that the organisation will look into the issues of alleged irregularities in PMGKAY rice distribution and Covid treatment charge in private hospitals.
Announcing this during a press meet held at its office here on Sunday, AMMOCOC general secretary Wahidur Rehman termed as unfortunate that the government allowed distribution of PMGKAY rice only to NFSA card holders despite the hardships being faced by all the people due to Covid-19 and related lockdown.
Questioning if NFSA beneficiaries, who have linked their Aadhaar cards with their ration cards are the only ones who are suffering due to the pandemic, he appealed to the government to look into the matter and take up necessary measures to address the issue.
Following multiple complaints from different sections of the society regarding irregularities in distributing PMGKAY rice, the organisation spoke with Meira Paibi leaders of Kshetri Awang Leikai and found that NFSA beneficiaries in the locality had already submitted relevant documents along with Rs 100 to the FPS agents but Aadhaar linking for many of them is still pending.
Expressing concern over the matter, he said that the organisation will look into it to find out if the agents, nominees, MLAs or the department officials are responsible.
On the other hand, he appealed to private hospitals to strictly follow the Covid treatment rate notified by the government and also urged all concerned against un-warranted hike in prices of essential commodities by taking undue advantage of the pandemic situation.
